Impact 21 Project Manager – Contract Role

The Project Manager position entails managing a wide range of Petroleum and Convenience Retail projects for a variety of clients. Project Managers interact with all levels and departments as a client as well as our internal team of industry experts and third parties to ensure a client’s project is delivered on-time, on-budget and meeting all of the key deliverables. This position contributes to changes in project management processes and procedures to improve overall deliverables and client interaction. In addition, the position will act as a subject matter expert on a variety of projects in areas of their expertise.

The Project Manager is a contract role with responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with Impact 21 company strategy, commitments, and goals.

Essential Functions & Duties

  • Lead the planning and implementation of projects using MS Project Server working with the Project Sponsor, Impact 21 team, third parties, and the client members
    • Assemble and coordinate project team
    • Manage project resource allocation
    • Ensure all team members are using the appropriate tools and resources; documenting all work on the internal collaboration system
    • Constantly monitor and regularly report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
    • Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions
    • Schedule and facilitate planning and business alignment meetings
  • Facilitate the definition and tracking of project scope, goals, and deliverables
    • Define project tasks and resource requirements
    • Develop full scale project schedules using Microsoft Project
    • Professional
    • Manage project budget
    • Track and report on project deliverables using appropriate tools
    • Provide direction and support to project team
    • Conduct quality assurance on all documents and deliverables
    • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
    • Conduct project evaluations and assessment of results
  • Work as an industry subject matter expert
  • Provide hands-on support where necessary
  • Assist in the sales cycle where appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

Education and Experience

  • Qualification in project management or equivalent – PMP designation preferred: Direct work experience in project management capacity in technology, loyalty marketing, retail, refining, or strategic business projects
  • Management and Leadership Experience: Proven experience in people management, strategic planning, risk management, and change management; Direct work experience leading teams with external team members or indirect team members is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years in the Fuel and Convenience or associated industries
  • BS in Business; MBA desired

  • Excellent computer skills with emphasis on MS Office Suite: Ability to set clear expectations, manage team performance, and build high morale among team members: Work collaboratively and efficaciously as a team member; Ability to work across departments, companies, and at multiple levels; Ability to interact effectively with executive level clients
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and carry out assignments that are sensitive in nature

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time is required
  • Ability to work in office environments with up to 90% of time spent on computers or sitting in meetings
  • This is a contract role, and not a full time position
